There are normally two different
types of thrush. They are categorized as:
Oral thrush is the type of thrush
which forms inside or around the mouth of an individual.
This type of thrush is followed by a discharge of white
substance from the surface. Oral thrush in adults is
normally caused due to negligence of oral hygiene. Adults
who do not wash their mouth with anti bacterial tooth
paste/mouth wash are prone to oral thrush. Other then
hygiene the alcohol intake can also add to the Oral
thrush. Since alcohol contains some quantity of fungus
present in the drink, therefore it reacts with the
bacterial fungus in oral parts of the body and results in
yeast formation.
Another victim of oral thrush is
new born babies. Especially those babies who are kept on
bottle feed are more prone to thrush. While feeding your
child through a bottle/feeder, proper care must be taken
for the hygiene of bottle that is being used. Bottle must
not be left uncovered and should not be exposed to open
air.
The other common type of thrush is
found amongst women. The presence of fungus/yeast in and
around the surface of vagina in woman’s body causes the
infection to spread. Women who are diabetic patients
experience recurring yeast infections if proper care is
not taken. Although the matter is part of normal life for
most of the woman, one must not forget that the matter
can get serious if you do not give it proper
tension.
Majority of the women are able to
cure the disease by the help of easily available
medicines and anti fungal creams in the drug stores. You
can diagnose about vaginal thrush with the help of your
doctor. However, normally one gets to diagnose at his
own. There are no special lab tests that you will have to
undergo in order to know about thrush.
Symptoms of vaginal thrush include
the burning of skin and a constant itchiness. Women going
through vaginal thrush often report some degree of pain
and burning while doing sexual intercourse. It is advised
by doctors and skin specialists, that women passing
through thrush must avoid sexual intercourse as the
rubbing against vulva can cause disease to
spread.
